Old dogs can learn new tricks!!!

My mom left for Florida the end of February. Intended to stay a month, but cut it short by a week and went to my uncle's in SC. He was with her in Florida and drove so she wouldn't need a flight. Anyway..... she's been missing her friends and my sister a lot. Had a 2 way call with my sister last Sunday, via some app I never heard of, but like FaceTime.

My mom's 90 year old & 88 year old friends were FaceTiming once a week...the 90 year olds son walked her through it! Then they wanted my mom to join in, but she doesn't have an iPhone. Her son told her to do it through FB messenger. Well low and behold they were all "seeing" each other on Sunday. Amazes me that 90, 88, and 81 year olds are doing this!!!

Makes my heart happy!!

My MIL (89), who had never touched a cell phone before her husband died in December, is now texting, facetiming and talking on her iphone. She doesn't like it, but it's the only way she can communicate with her family and friends, so she's doing it.

I so wish I could get my parents on board! My dad just has too many things on his plate to deal with anything else new (even though we have been trying to get them to do this for years!)

I love this story. They are so lucky that they are able to get together and are not afraid to try something new.

Good for them!!! Also, kudos to the son who helped them because I know trying to help my 82-year-old mom with tech makes me want to pull my hair out!

Learning how to connect in new ways is wonderful for brain health as well as emotional health.

My 93 year old dad has been using Zoom for church meetings and he loves FaceTiming his great granddaughters.
