How incredibly difficult this all is, and the children are scared and hurting. Right now some children are able to do schoolwork and may even find that learning gives a sense of normalcy to their lives. Others are totally unable to focus on school. Perhaps it's time for a mental health day, with lots of time for games and songs and stories and building a fort with all the blankets and pillows in the house, followed by a picnic inside it.

Maybe just a virtual hug for DD and her family. It's tough.

This is something weíve talked about (virtually) in our district. The message we are being sent is to give support where we can and encourage students to do the work, but to keep in mind that we have no idea what families are dealing with at home. Weíve been told that we are not to punish students who arenít turning in work. Itís such a difficult time for everyone, including the littlest ones.

The author makes a lot of points that I havenít heard in any morning news or talk show discussions. I will share this with others. I hope the story gets more widespread attention.

I think it is a difficult time for ALL. Everyone has a struggle of some sort.

I do agree that some schools/districts/states are trying too hard. I have seen posts of teachers being responsible for 6 hours of virtual learning a day for their students. YIKES!

One thing that our superintendent has stressed to us through all of this is: relational continuity.

We are currently doing our P/T conferences either through Google Meet or phone and our focus is How are you doing? How can I help?
