Dollhouse Recommendations

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I teach TK which is a kind of PreK/Kinder hybrid in CA.

I want to introduce a dollhouse during free choice time. I like the quality of the ones from Lakeshore and I love how cute the tree house is. Does anyone have any experience with these products? Or has anyone found a durable one on amazon?

I've thought about yard sales but I wanted to fund this through donorschoose so I do not have to pay myself, especially since the lakeshore ones are $200.

Thank you in advance!

I'm teaching Kinder in a VERY small room with very little space for extra things like dollhouses. I have two sterilite aquarium latch boxes full of dollhouse furniture, and my kids just set it up on the floor, or on a bookshelf, and have at it. We haven't needed a dollhouse at all, and in fact, I think my kids would find it kind of limiting. Having just furniture invites more free-form play. I would recommend the Melissa and Doug wooden dollhouse furniture as well as the Fisher Price Loving Family dollhouse furniture.

Look for a dollhouse that will last. Yes, Lakeshore maybe more expensive but it hopefully will last longer than ones you find in the store. I inherited one from a retired teacher and it has been through many lil hands. My boys love it as much as the girls. I only had to purchase a few furniture pieces for the inside. All in all it lasted over 12 years.
When I first started,
I made the mistake of buying one at Christmas time. It was on sale. And I had a coupon. Well, that poor plastic house did not make it to Valentines Day.
Find a sturdy one that will last for years. You want your moneys worth.
