I went to the heinemann website. This curriculum is published in the form of edocs. It looks like you cannot buy the actual books.

6th grade Reading one. ($10) It's 157 pages long!!! The Writing one is now available and I will be getting that one as well.
I've only read the first chapter. There is a lot of reading; the how-to is embedded in that. Mentor texts are mentioned. Lucy Calkins is the author. She mentions the website www.readingandwritingproject.com as a resource many times.
Here is the overview (the chapters) for the year for 6th grade.
