My 6th graders love to do self-portraits. It's a project that is all about them. But I do the project in such a way that everyone can be successful. I take a photo of each student and print it out on computer paper. Students outline their features with a Sharpie marker. Then we put the photo/drawings on an opaque project and enlarge the images. The students trace them onto poster board. Next, they go over their lines with black paint and later fill in with color- real OR subjective. This project is always a big hit with students.
