At our school a group of people donated a couple bicycles to our school. They have a stipulation for the person who gets it, Whoever reads the most. How would you recommend I track the students. Minutes read or number of books read? The problem is if we go with books read the higher kids that read chapter books will read less. If we go with minutes read that really limits the kids that don't have the support from home. Have any of you had anything like this happen at your school?

but I knew a teacher who did something similar using pages read.

I use pages read in my classroom. They write a reading response over any finished books and even abandoned books to get credit for their pages read.
