Read Around the World Project

My school does an end-of-the-year reading incentive project where classes read to compete and see who can "Read Around the World" the fastest. The winning class gets an end of the year field trip.
I'd like to change up the contest a bit this year, and wanted to do some sort of end-of-the-year culture celebration or something - have kids from different grades share information with one another. I was thinking each grade could learn about a different country and the other grade levels could "tour" to learn about the country? I'm not sure how that would look from K-5 though, with such a wide range of skills...
The project is grades K-5 - I also dont want to add a bunch of work on to individual classroom teachers, so I'd like this to be something I can primarily organize myself that they just have to implement.
Any ideas would be much appreciated!
