I am going to teach 5th grade science next year and would like to use centers in my class. I have never taught science before and would appreciate any suggestions that you have, including games that can be modified to use in these centers.

Our district uses Science Fusion and it comes with leveled readers and I use this as a center to help w/ vocabulary and comprehension. You can use individually or buddy read and answer questions that are in the reading.
I also have vocab cards that I use for a concentration type matching game and some one has the answer key to check.

I have never ordered her materials, but looking at her science five set up inspired to create science stations in my room. Let me say first that I teach reading using science or I teach science and incorporate cc reading standards ! So, I am going to have the science three - vocabulary, a reading activity with the science topic, and some type of graphic organizer for organizing the reading or science skill (foldable, etc). We will do experiments one day each week, so my science three will only be three days. I do not use our textbook since it does not do a great job of covering our state standards, but the program does come with leveled readers which I can use in small groups.

Wow, I realize that was more about me than Science Penguin, but you can tell she inspires me to rethink how I do things.

I enjoy reading about fellow teachers and how they approach teaching. I liked reading your post it gives me food for thought and different ways to implement ideas. We have Science Fusion and it stinks! Please keep sharing.
