I am working on a literacy class project and need help. My question pertains to the desires of classroom teachers and administration in the role of a literacy professional.

If you could have a literacy person in your classroom/school what would you want them to do? I have had some teachers tell me they would like this person to do all RtI literacy screenings and interventions. I have also been told they would love this person to help to fund and organize a leveled library systems. Others told me they would like the person to organize yearly literacy nights.

No idea is off the table. If you controlled this position's role, what would you have them do?

If you could just take a minute or two to answer the question, I would greatly appreciate it.

All of the mentioned roles would be helpful. We used to have literacy coaches too that would work with teachers . It was modeling, getting organized, etc.
So each school is different. The position needs to fit the needs of the school.

Our reading coach organized all our testing (dibels) and admistered most of it with the help of teachers and aides. She helped write grants to provide books and consumable resources for classrooms. She modeled lessons and was a great resources for phonics interventions.
