My husband teaches elementary music and would like to implement using a doorbell for classroom management. Any tips?

A few primary teachers used it in my school. Make sure he explains and practices what the ring of the doorbell means. Does he want them to stop and be quiet at the sound? One teacher did not practice enough and would ring it several times. I use chants the students respond to to manage group transitions. That is another option.

I've always used a bell. I just say, "When you hear the bell, stop and look."

I've tried all types of things and I feel like they can hear the bell the best. One thing I don't like is that went we are out of the classroom, no bell. Then I just say, "Listen up please." Then, I stop and wait.

If I have an especially noisy class, I might say things like, "Every second I have to wait for your attention is a second you will wait after the bell."
It works. I don't remember ever having to actually keep them late either.
