All I can say is wow! After 70+ applications sent out and 14 interviews I received an offer today for a middle school Learning Support position! I was beginning to lose hope of finding a position for the next school year, but yesterday I felt I really aced the interview and this morning the school asked for my references.

My one reference called me before the school did and they were told that I was the top choice and I could be expecting a call by the end of the week. The AP called me today around 1:30 and offered me a 7th grade Learning Support position. I'm thrilled and relieved! This school is the best in the district and pretty sought after for internal transfer.

I just want to thank everyone who offered me support and encouragement over the last few weeks. I was really starting to lose hope and even broke down a couple of weeks ago. I just want everyone still searching not to give up!

What does a learning support position entail? Is it similar to an instructional coach or do you work with students?

Tgbwc - I can't speak for all LS positions, but mine entails pushing into classrooms to assist students and the gen ed teacher. Kiddos will be coming to me for extra support in my classroom to work on targeted skills during the day as well.
