Hi everyone! In this age of online "Zoom" tutoring, has anyone come across an online equivalent for using a highlighter-strip to help students track the words they are reading? I have a student who frequently skips over words and I would like to use visual cueing to assist, but my usual go-to highlighter-strip (that I can help manipulate) obviously isn't available when teaching online! Any ideas??? Thank you in advance!

What is the student reading from? A paper book? Specific website? Word document? There may be options, but I think it will depend on the text location.

I am sharing my screen, where I pull up texts that are online in public domain (eg. lit2go stories). So I can copy the text into a program if that helps; anything where I can share my screen on Zoom.

I haven’t tried it, but this article says you can use annotation tools while using zoom if you have it enable. https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/art...bile_site=true

You could highlight and then erase or undo as you go.

If you used google products, you could paste the text into slides, then make a transparent yellow rectangle and use that as a highlighter strip. I could do it in docs, too, although in my mind it wouldn’t be as easy. If you can do it in slides or docs, you can do it in PowerPoint or word.
