Like most of you we are short on subs. I'm hybrid. I have students with me all day and others live streaming on the computer. Every SINGLE time the other hybrid teacher is out I have to cover her inperson kids. Quarantined? send them to me. she has an MTSS meeting? send them to me! In fact, all of my walkthroughs have been with her kids because it happens SO much!!! I don't get paid extra. I don't even get a thank you. Am I right to be this angry? I feel like I'm being taken advantage of. It's not like its 2-3 extra kids. It's 9 extra kids!!!

You need to be compensated

You are absolutely right to be angry! There should be some kind of compensation every time you are told to take her students. If you have a union this should already be in place.

I donít know how things work at non-union schools, but, at minimum I would let whoever makes those decisions know I expect to be compensated. Hopefully others here will be able to help you with specifics.

I thought the whole point of hybrid was to lessen the amount of kids that are together, promote social distancing, and minimize mixing. How is that happening if you keep having other kids in your room?! I'd be pissed as well.

That's really not ok. Hope you have a union and they'll back you up. If you don't, I'd start calling out as much as the other teacher does.

Thatís unacceptable tor health and pedagogical reasons. You shouldnít be expected to basically teach three classes at once.
