I'm almost out of funds for my 1st extension of UI but after I clicked on the weeks it said to come back in 2 weeks for the next weeks.
Do they keep extending you
I just got an EDD notice tonight that my maximum benefits have been payed and that I cannot file another claim until my unemployment year ends.
This means I will not get the retroactive five weeks of $300, nor will I get 13 more weeks of $662.
The one district that has offered a handful of jobs has cost me over $10,000. As I said, those that have not been offered any work yet are very fortunate.
I reported the $300 that I earned last week, which might have sealed my fate, despite earning less than $1000 for the month of September.
I am not sure why they’re not letting you have a 13 additional weeks from the cares act. What month did you start getting unemployment in? And have you received an appointment prior to that? I’m not sure why you were taking jobs, I remember you talking about your age and medical issues and the fact that you live with your mom who is quite elderly with medical issues. It seems to me you could have used those as legitimate reasons for not taking jobs at this point in time. Maybe I am wrong, but I thought that was an option during the pandemic.
Our sub coordinator said she was reporting to EDD that jobs were available.
My mom is semi-independent She relies on me for food, chores, and moral support.
I do need to be with her about 30 hours a week.
I suppose I could have denied jobs due to some issues, but my fear was that I would be shut out when the virus clears and would not be offered work when I needed it.
My other two districts have shut me out, so I need at least one district to rely on.
I am considering requesting a phone interview with EDD to discuss these issues, but the fact that they are impossible to get a hold of, and that we are also at their mercy to grant an extension, made me think taking some jobs was the safer thing to do in the long term.
Maybe I will try to contact them after October 4.
I would also like to know why I did not get the retroactive $300 per week extension, since my claim period ended September 19 with a $128 balance, yet I was only paid $300 through August 15.
Going back to work for a mere eight days through September 29 probably cost me this retroactive pay.
Your congressional representative has a contact in their office to assist constituents- that's you.
they can help answer questions and explain it for you. (and us- let us know)
and don't forget EDD is shut down for another week in Calif for new claims since they were so backed up and have not been answering the phones
Good luck
I got a recertification notice on Saturday that states, "This form is being sent to you to bring your claim up to date."
My claim ended on September 19, and I received no notice that I was being granted an extention,
Yet this claim form is for September 27 through October 10. I am confused, but this is certainly not bad news.
I earned the maximum of $675 last week, but this was an unusual case since the teachers mother was dying. I am scheduled for two days this week at $300.
It is a catch 22. I like earning $675, although not under these circumstances.
I also don't like reporting $675 for the first week of recertification. The week is an aberration, but EDD might not see it that way.
