What do you get when your female cocker spaniel is a buff color and your male is a chocolate/tan/white? You get a buff and 3 black babies of course . I looked back in both of their lines and my male has black a several black in his lines.

Yesterday was a long day that started at 5:00 am, a trip to the vet for a csection at about 7:00am which is an hour away, deciding to try a few medicines to induce labor before c-section so I hung around the vet, finally deciding at 2:30 to do the c-section, getting back at about 5:00pm with everyone and finding mom wasn’t accepting of her beautiful babies. She finally accepted them at about 9:00 last night. I checked every hour until midnight and she was doing great with them. She’s been a picture perfect mom since.

Congratulations! All your puppies are so cute! I like 1956BD’s suggestion of patriotic names.

Precious!!!

Is it possible she was just exhausted before she could appreciate her accomplishment?

I’m not sure she actually realized she had babies. She snapped at them and was growling at them. I tried several times and was finally able to get her to relax at about 9 last night. It took an hour of me holding her and getting them to latch on before she finally accepted them. Then I moved them to her crate and we went through that again. But she finally accepted them and is the best little momma now. She’s constantly got them pulled up to her and cleaning and feeding them.

So sweet.
... I wonder if it was her coming of the meds from her c-section that threw her off at first.

So cute! Poor momma- sounds like she was just tired after her delivery! Human moms don't feel great after a C-section either.
