I am having a really hard time getting my students to capitalize. They have learned the rules and can tell you when to use caps, but they don't 90% of the time. Do any of you have great ideas I can do to motivate my students to use caps properly?

Check out ################## dot com. There is a webinar on oral writing. They use gestures to show capitals and punctuation when speaking and then transfer it to writing. Good luck!

What I use

To remind my students to capitalize and punctuate, I have them write all capital letters and punctuation marks with a red colored pencil. So everyday while writing, the students use a red colored pencil for all subjects. Having them do this reminds them to use capital letters and punctuation marks. I also use a red dry erase marker to capitalize things when writing on the board.
