Are you still getting your hair cut? We are not in a stay at home order, just have to be no more than 9 people where ever you go. So do you think it is safe to get your hair cut? The salon is still open, and just sees a few clients at a time.

You might be following your local rules, but I think itís a higher risk activity to get a hair cut. You are necessarily in close contact with your stylist. She could possibly have the virus and transmit it without symptoms.

Nope. It's not essential. Stay home, please. People can transmit the virus long before they show symptoms. You don't want to risk your own health or the health of the people that you love.

I wouldn't go out for that. I'm surprised some states still have them open and aren't under a stay at home order. This is how things spread- and got spread before areas had many cases. You are in very close contact with the person doing hair, who has been in very close contact with a number of people before you. I think it's risky and unnecessary, personally.

I just cut my hair last night I was going to get creative, but only did a tiny bit.

Nope, I haven't gotten my haircut. My hairstylist posted a reminder not to color your own hair (which I don't) unless you're willing to pay the $300 to get it fixed when this is all over.

I've also been posting funny haircut memes with her.

It's not essential. I actually thought getting a haircut was riskier than having your house cleaned.

Last week I canceled my hair cut appointment but sent my stylist a check. This week our salons are closed. None of us knows if we have COVID19 and that's what makes it so dangerous. Your stylist could have just cut hair for a COVID19 client and then you pick up the virus from your stylist. I've read what death is like for COVID19 patients. I don't think that getting your hair cut is worth the risk.

I trimmed my hair last weekend It may not look great but it was definitely safer than going into a salon.

No. Those types of businesses (as well as nail salons, massage spas, etc.) were among the first places put under mandatory closures.

What state are you in? I wish the whole US would go on a stay at home order. I donīt see how this is going to work if we donīt all do it.

I agree you shouldnít go. While I know there are a very few states without an order to stay home, I just donít understand the reasoning. There are many here on PT who have shared thoughts about the necessity of staying at home. This virus is the real deal!

After most of the U.S. has seen it spread like wildfire, Iíd say your local leaders (who arenít actually leading) are only allowing it more opportunities to spread and contaminate their citizens and therefore the rest of us. Use the information youíve gained from PT as well as the more important scientific evidence and start sheltering in place (on your own initiative) before it becomes a regret.

I wear my hair short, and my last haircut was not great. I'm gonna probably end up with a mullet when this is all over. (It's funny - but it's not.)

No, stay home.

Just because there are less than 10 people in a group doesn't mean that the virus cant spread......IT CAN! The virus can't count, it doesn't wait until there are 11 people and then decides it's ok to spread and infect them. All it takes is 2 people to get close to each other. You are close to another human when you get your hair cut. Just don't.

I was due for a haircut at the beginning of March and the salons were still open. I didn't go then (already worried about coronavirus) so my hair is now the longest it has been in a long while. Between the long hair and the mask, I figure no one will recognize me on my occasional foray into the outside world.

So my vote is stay home. Join the really need haircut clan. We are a big group and actively recruiting right now.

They were alway one of the first things to close in Minnesota. It isn't only the customers, it is the close proximity the stylist and client are to each other.

My stylist e-mailed all of her customers, urging us not to try to dye our own hair during this time (she didn't want to eventually try to fix all of our messes).

We are in stay at home now; no one outside my house sees how awful I look anyways.

I am in RI. Our governor has closed everything. We are all under a stay at home order except for grocery or drug stores. Take out is available. 10 states have not done anything and they all have republican governors. Hmm.... wait until people start dying. Our churches are even closed. Even the Catholic Church.

Barbershops and hair salons are closed here. My husband likes to keep his hair very short, so he wanted me to get the clippers out and do his hair. Ummm do you think there will be a run on hair clippers and I won't be able to buy them? I just threw out our hair clippers before Christmas. I mean, I hadn't touched them in a decade or so.

I have short baby fine straight hair and desperately need a haircut. When I called my hairstylist to ask where I could mail her a check to help keep her afloat, she told me she was still cutting hair. She said she'd be very careful and I'd be the only customer there. I thanked her, and politely DECLINED!

Like many others, I'll be cutting my own bangs. I can always hide under a baseball cap when I go to buy groceries every two weeks.

My stylist cancelled all of her appointments when the stay at home order was issued. The bang situation is about to be out of control - I'm either going to have to do something drastic or officially start growing them out.

Yep, stay home. My hair needs to be cut, but I figure everyone is having the same problem with hair so I am not alone and neither are you.

Salons were one of the first places that closed here. Donít go.

One of my neighbors was getting a hair cut in the front yard today. It was interesting to watch.

DH cuts his own anyway, and my mom cut hers this past week.

Iím in Illinois and feel that grocery and drug stores should be the only stores allowed open.

You can still get liquor at the grocery store as well as the drugstore. We do have takeout. However, the local wine gallery, all hardware stores, JoAnneís Fabrics, etc. are open. I probably missed a few. Iím just going to assume that it will take a long time before Illinois will be cleared of cases.

Just in my town walking through the park, which is allowed, groups of young adults were playing frisbee and the tennis courts were full yesterday. The parks are closed except for people walking through or bicyclists. Iím really getting a little fearful.
