Ok I found a new thing I love about retirement. Dh had two appointments this week both ones I needed to go with him. Both out of town, 250 miles away (I know another reason we need to make our second home year round.) It was so nice to just go and not have to make sub plans.ye

I just got back from a six-day road trip to New Jersey for the baptism of my cousin's baby. Last year I would have had to fly, and would probably have used all my personal days. It would have been exhausting getting ready and then getting right back to work. This year - no problem! Retirement is the best!

I just got back from a trip to Michigan. We are going to Sedona for a day trip for our anniversary. At the end of October we are going to San Diego. I love not getting ready for a sub. I love Sunday nights nights now because I don't have lesson plans to do.

Retirement Happiness

There are so many things to love about retirement. I'm going on a trip to Montana in a week. It is great to take a vacation when school is in session. I went to happy hour with some of my former coworkers last night. Hearing the stories about all the stress at school made me happy and grateful to be retired.

.....and the fact that they needed a happy hour on a Thursday just lets you know how stressful the job is

Was just thinking about the times I went in sick and/or in pain because it was easier than writing sub plans. Planning medical appointments is so much easier...
When it was in the 90's this week we just packed up and went to the beach on a Monday with no crowds.

No more sub plans...the best! Especially when you know the sub will do her own thing, anyway.

Next best is shopping whenever you want.

The best part of retiring

No sub plans is the main reason for retiring. When I did leave plans I often wondered if they were good enough. Then the guilt trip from the principal when I asked for a personal day off. There were actually times when I was told NO. My DD who works in HR said that was not legal...

I went to a family reunion in Iowa for 4 days during the first week of school. There is no way I would have been able to do that if I was still teaching!

The best part will be come January when DD is due with baby #3. I can just pick up and go! Happy Gramma!
