Job hunt. I hate it. I applied earlier this year and had an interview at a school my friend teaches at for 6th grade science. He likes the school, the administration and I trust his judgement. Went in during March to have an interview but didn't get the job. I found out later that the job went to someone who'd been at the school all year as a long term sub. That made it easier to swallow because if the person was there all year and did a good job----they should get the job.
He texts me Wednesday and says, "Check your email." I ask him why and he said there was a second science position opening up and his principal told him, "I can't find your friend's name on the list, how do you spell it? I want to offer her the job."
I keep anxiously checking me emails and haven't heard anything yet; I know it has to go through human resources and can take a few days (especially at this time of year). I keep telling myself not to get my hopes up but they're already up and I"m afraid my friend misinterpreted it or something got hung up in HR. I'd be really really sad to get my hopes up and then to have it not happen. That seems worse than not getting it in the first place.

Oh, that is so frustrating! Wish you luck!

I don't know how to stop you from getting excited and then disappointed. I just hope it doesn't happen. Start cleaning your closets or something that really needs done while watching tv or listening to an audio book. Keep busy! Busy is the antidote to thinking too hard or much!

Oh my goodness. I really have no words for you my friend. I’d be a hot mess. I’d be getting my hopes up too. I really hope you’re not set up for disappointment. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Could you reach out to the P and say you heard there was a science opening and you were interested? Or would that be too pushy? Hmmm... maybe ask your friend what he thinks the best next step would be?

I remember interviewing for a job asked when they'd be making a decision. I was told that day as soon as I left because they wanted someone immediately.

When I don't hear for 6 days I thought there was no way I got the job. Low and behold day 7 I got the call at 9:30pm! HT can be soooooooo slllllooooowww!

HR CAN be super slow! I've been through that wait period several times and it's never easier. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that something comes through ASAP!
