zoom question

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I am planning on setting up a video conference with my first graders using zoom. Can I just copy/paste the link to the parent's email addresses in order to invite them to join the video conference? Is it that simple? I have a zoom account but the parents don't need to download zoom, right? I'm hoping they don't have to because I have been sending way to many passwords, websites, and usernames to parents lately, I'd hate to have ask them to download zoom. They've had enough trouble just logging onto the new websites, ugh.
thank you

I think they do. We had a zoom meeting for school last week and before I could join I had to download zoom onto my Chromebook.

They will need an app. Zoom will prompt them to download it when they click your link, though, and it's pretty "dummy proof."

thank you for the replies. So if I understand this correctly I can copy/paste the link for the zoom conference and just email parents the link, then when they click on the link they will be prompted with another link to download zoom either on their laptop or ipad? Is this correct? Is this pretty simple or "dummy proof" as you said for the parents to understand? As I mentioned earlier, just logging on new websites has brought on lots of questions from parents, lol.

Yes, when the open it, it will prompt them to download an app. The only issue I've run into is that on some phones, depending on how they've set their text size levels, you might not see the prompt without scrolling down. So maybe mention that in your email.

You might want to specifically tell them that Zoom will be free for them. I have heard that on Android phones there is an option to set up a paid account, but they can click past that and get what they need. That did not happen to me and I have an android.
