Almost made it to retirement with minimal technology skills

I retire in 3 months and have had just enough technology skills to get by—until now. Now I am expected to zoom, set up a google classroom and who knows what else! I took me all day to add a message and a few links to my teacher web page. Not really a vent because I know how fortunate I am to still have a job and a paycheck, but still.....

Man, almost made it! So close!

This may change what you end up doing in retirement- maybe it will be more tech-related with all these new skills!

That's funny! Like GraceKrispy said, those newly gained tech skills may become very handy when you are retired. I have a friend who teaches super basic technology skills to people in retirement homes. Many of the elderly worked and retired in a time before technology became such an important part of life.

Oh I hear you! It doesn't come naturally to me, so it takes me way longer than the other teachers. I had to invite my family to a zoom"meeting" so I could practice. Wait until next week. The teaching expectations are going to ramp up. Yikes. Three more months. It's been a crazy year. Too bad my retirement saving is trashed now, but I am so not going back next year.

I am retired and so glad I do not need to stress about any of that stuff. I like technology, but not under pressure.

Lol! I am doing a "practice" zoom session with my niece and nephew before I have to do it for real tomorrow afternoon!
I've participated in them before but have never run a session on my own!

Right there with you. I retire at the end of May. I am learning too. Same kinds of things. We have a Zoom meeting next week with P and our team is setting up Google Classroom What a nightmare

is just a pipe dream now. Mine also has been trashed by the current economic conditions.

I'll just have to keep going, but I am not happy about no choice now.

I've taught for 25 years, dog paddling with technology now I'm in the same boat as you! My one bright thought was that now I will have an easier time face timing the grandkids!
