Day One of Virtual Learning

It's day one of virtual learning for us. We had loaded everything on Google Classroom and had sent emails with explanations. So far this morning I have answered about a gazillion emails and managed to delete about 7 student responses from a Google Form while trying to reset it for just one student. I feel like it has been a successful morning...

This is our 7th day online. I'm getting at least 35 emails a day from the kids. They are also starting threads where they shouldn't to say hi to their friends. Lots of deleting and uploading!

Day 3

We are on day 3. My neck and back are killing me, I think because I'm not used to spending so much time in front of a screen.

I get parent e-mails, but actually not a ton...maybe about 10 a day on average? Most kids have completed work. Those that haven't, I think there are only 1 or 2 who haven't because they haven't. I think the others are still trying to navigating the technology.

Mine are posting messages on our google classroom, too. They are appropriate, so I let it be. They miss each other and are kids. They are thinks "I miss you!" and "I want to be back in school" and "What is everyone doing?" Just silly things. I don't blame them, they want to connect with each other.

them to start a thread, you can change that on the stream page settings.

Go to the gear at the top of the stream page. On the page that pops up under "General" you click on "Stream" and you can make it so kids can comment only and only a teacher can start a thread. That has helped cut down on some of the extras and it keeps your post at the top of the page.

I had a long post saying what you are all saying. Thank God others feel this way. I can't keep up. Plus I have 4th graders that are doing schoolwork after 5:00. I get it but I am literally teaching all day.

Thanks for letting me vent.
