The teachers in my district have lost the privilege of the “reply all” button.

I woke up to 40 emails this am and almost all of them were because people hit “reply all” to say something ridiculous like, “thank you” or “great shirt”. Waste of my time. Just reply to the person who sent the email. This happens all.the.time.

Then my uncle sent an email tonight and my cousin replied to everyone.

WTH? What is this? I don’t reply to everyone unless everyone needs to be involved in the discussion.

Is this just me? Does this annoy other people too?

It annoys me, too! So many people replying all for stupid stuff! Luckily, in my current work it doesn't happen a lot.

My school has actually had email etiquette on "reply all!" We had so many people doing it and wasting everyone's time. It is so much better since this was brought up. It took awhile at first but with several reminders everyone has started to follow correct replying etiquette.

Definitely annoys me, too. But it is kinda fun to read the ones where the sender didn’t realize she’d hit ‘reply all’ and we get to eavesdrop on what she thinks is a private conversation.

I never liked "reply all" at work so that the sender can do "virtue signaling."

One time this admin wrote a long email to a buddy complaining about a teacher gone a lot for union business and this dumb admin "replied all" after ending her email with 'I hate subbing for her.'

Yep! Got one of those just the other day. She was SO embarrassed! She is typically a very formal, careful communicator who is in a leadership position and she was all like, "hey girl! can you believe this crazy sh!t?" in her response

Sadly we don’t get any of those, we just get the “thanks for doing this”, “great job”, “the rooms look great”. I’m so over it.

Anna nailed it - it's virtue signaling, almost always directed at admin or the chosen ones - "OMG Thank you so much for breakfast what a great way to start the day ready to learn" Gag me.

Those annoy me, too. My p seems to love them.

We just had another crazy reply all today. Someone responded to a previously sent email to ask a question. The correct person responded with how to contact privately. Then a bunch of other idiots hit rely all to say "wrong perrson" or "why did you send this to me"
These same people are going to be responsible for teaching from their computer now. This should be fun!

We have the opposite problem. People will not hit reply all even when “all” need to hear the response.

It happens all the time with work emails. Then the original email gets lost! We are CONSTANTLY telling people to just reply and not reply all. We don't want to see the you "received, read and understand" the P's email

I agree!!! When someone sends out a notice that we have donuts in the lounge, almost always we'll get several emails saying "Thanks!" or "PTO is awesome!". While it's very nice that the original sender gets appreciated, everyone else doesn't need to know that you sent a thank you.

I hate it, too, but at my job now, they seem to require it. When I started, there was a teacher who was helping all the new (to this program teacher). My supervisor said I could request a board from her supervisor. So, I did and my supervisor's supervisor wanted me to loop in the teacher helping the new teachers. I mean, what does she care???

Reply all is one of my biggest email pet peeves. Come on, people - just think for one second! And it's always the same offenders...

I have enjoyed the handful of times someone wrote something that they definitely didn't want everyone to read and accidentally hit reply all.
Everyone should be required to watch the Gerry Brooks video. Hilarious and true.
