How to help someone anonymously-ideas

I have a very dear friend/former colleague who is really struggling right now with SO many things (both personal and related to the virus and the after effects).

She won't accept help. Too proud.

Obviously, I can't visit her and bring her meals, etc.

Her DH lost his job, money is a huge concern. Much more aside from that that she is dealing with.

I want to help them out with groceries or money, or both. But I want to remain anonymous. Is this even possible?

Sending gift cards through the mail was one idea, but if I put it in an envelope, it will get stolen, so box it up, maybe? Can I send something without a return address? Is it possible to do something virtually, but still remain anonymous?

Ideas?

TIA!

Very kind of you.

I donít know if you can still do this, but there used to be a way to call the utility company and either pay their outstanding bills or just put a lump sum on their account.

Amiga beat me to it! You can call utility, phone, etc and put money on their account or pay their bill.

I like Amiga's idea as that would be a worry off them financially.

If it's not possible, perhaps there is a restaurant that is selling a food box (we have them doing that in my town) and you could order one for them and ask the restaurant to call them and provide a pick up time for them to get the box.

Or you could order a meal kit to be sent to their home.

In our area, local restaurants are delivering still. You could send her a meal. Either send it earlier in the day so she wouldn't cook that night or send something that could be reheated the next day.

Grocery stores are delivering but there is a wait of several days to get a delivery around here.

You are very thoughtful.

Could you send her amazon gift cards she could use for their pantry feature? I've been blessed with anonymous card gifts before.

Kroger:

Publix:

Food Lion:

I checked the 3 main stores in my area (Virginia), and you can buy and ship gft cards online at all 3. Food Lion sells e-cards as well. They are delivered via email, not snail mail. Couldn't find anything similar for the other 2 stores, but maybe I missed something.

How do I find out what their utility company is? I live in a ruralish area. She lives smack dab in the middle of a metro area. (We live about 40 min. apart...). In a condo, as well (that they own). Any idea without asking her?

I'm assuming their phone is Verizon. Is it possible to really just call them a put a lump sum on a cell phone plan?

Bookgeek~How do I send an anonymous Amazon gift card? I know that would help them greatly!

Thanks for all of the ideas! I'm going to look into each one and decide which are (most) doable. Then, spread it out a bit, perhaps.

I donít know about your state, but here the utility companies are huge and cover a very big area, eg, PG&E covers much of Northern CA. Seems to me it would be easy to google by her town.

Cool, Amiga! Thanks! I will see what I can find. I hope I can do this.
