Online Teacher?

Clip to ScrapBook #1

After 10 years in the classroom at the elementary, middle school, and adult ed levels...I want to stay home with my own children to homeschool them. Because this would take most of my day, I would like to attain an online teaching position with flexible hours.

I have done several online searches...but has anyone had experience with finding a job teaching online? What would be the best way to attack attaining an education position online, aside from contacting schools directly? Does anyone have any useful web sites, or other information?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I'm really interested in the on-line world as well.
There are many popping up, but I'm having a hard time
retrieving information about what it is like (in terms
of all the details: pay, hours, expectations, etc.)

I hope a new 'group/thread' is started about this arena.
Maybe there is one...but I have not come across it yet.

Very interested in this as well!

Count me in! I'm ready to look into it as well. I'm a bit in the dark about how to start looking for what is required. Hopefully we all live in different states and wouldn't be tripping over each other for the same job.

Post on here if you find anything and we'll start communicating in code after that.

Several times I've heard people say how awesome it would be if we all worked in the same school. Maybe we could do that in the online world! How cool would it be to really have a ProTeacher school?!?!?!

I wonder what you would have to do to start one?

I just saw your post.
I have a homeschooling friend who has a blog and started teaching other homeschooled kids online. I'm sure she's not the only one. Give it a try.
How are things going?

started an online elementary (K-8 Charter) for his PHD project. Before he was our principal and prior to being an AP, he was our tech hero of the district. Needless to say our computor lab and classroom computors have gone downhill ever since he left 2 years ago to begin this school. Check him out- ecademyca . org Best of luck. oh and FYI: He is not just a geek behind the screen...his people skills are incredible!
