If you need me Iíll be reading

Iíve always been a big reader and thanks to BookTok Iíve been breaking records lately.

Iíve always insisted on paper books, but I finally realized how much Iíve been spending. Yikes.

I invested in Kindle Unlimited. You can have 10 books at a time. If you need me Iíll be reading. Iím never leaving the house again. I may use summer school money for an iPad. Then Iíll never sleep either.

Me too. I do not know what I would do with myself if I did not read.

Our Public Library is having a Summer Reading program for ADULTS this year. I'm thinking I might sign up.

Reading has saved me during the pandemic. I have made friends with people in online book clubs. My TBR pile is out of control. I need an interventionÖ

Iím with you. I stopped buying books a few years ago. I use kindle books from my local library and borrow from friends. I will buy kindle books if I need to buy any. I go to the library when I have the time. Enjoy reading!

I'm glad you're enjoying it! I'm kinda fussy with the books I read so haven't done kindle unlimited because it doesn't necessarily have the books I'd like to choose. Also in the "where I spend my money is who I choose to support," I like to spend at least some of my money consciously supporting authors. If nobody buys books, nobody will write them. (Child of authors, it's their job so it bugs me when people who love to read consciously avoid purchasing books lol.)

Iím the same way with audiobooks. As much time as I spend driving DS to school and killing time while heís at schoolÖ. Between audible, chirp, and the library Iíve read over 75 books so far this year.

Do you use Goodreads?

I've never been a book buyer (except for textbooks), but I've been reading library ebooks almost exclusively during the pandemic on my Kindle app. I have never run out of books. I also get freebies from the daily book email. I'm a huge reader. I manage to read a lot even though I really don't have time.

There are some books Iíll still buy because I really like the feeling of books in my hand. I like this option too.

Iím a huge reader, and I get most of my books from the library, either physical or electronic books. Two of my friends are librarians, so that doesnít help either. They always have book recommendations.

Yes, I still buy some hard copy books. If it is one that I think that I will want to share I will often buy it. If I can't get a book for a good price on Kindle I will buy a hard book before paying full price for a kindle version. Sometimes I am forced to buy one when I won't get a copy from Libby in time for a book club selection.

I still buy some books. That said, I mostly read library books. I've kept track of how much I save. Last year I saved over $1500 by using the library!

I prefer paper books and still buy a lot of them (used, where I get credit to then buy more). In the summer I prefer “real” books because I tend to be outside/at the pool or beach and won’t use my iPad for that setting.

But, I will use my iPad to read for free through my public library.

That's the beauty of an e-reader - you can read outside just like with a paper book! And then you can read at night with the light... it's close to perfect!

It’s not the sun/light that is why I don’t do it— it’s the water/sand, it would ruin an e-reader quickly. The extreme heat isn’t good for it either. It would be much more expensive to repair than a wet/sandy book.
