Goodbye Summer!

We start back tomorrow. I am actually excited! Everything goes by so fast, whether it's the school year or summer or just life in general...

I'm learning to enjoy each 'season', whatever that season may be/may bring. Each is fleeting!

I have found the older I get, the faster time goes.

Enjoy your year!

I love your style! How is your hip? You are about 3 weeks out from surgery, right? Your doc has cleared you to return? Just curious. Our teacher who has a hip replacement is scheduled to be out for at least 4 weeks, so that is why I am curious.

We start back for PD on Wed. I am ready, sort of. I am a little worried about having enough stamina to make it the first couple of weeks. Still on a crutch but progressing. I have just spend a lot of time not moving this summer. I finally got able to do some chores around the yard- I weeded the back yard this week but I had to sit on a piece of cardboard and scoot around to do it. I worked for a few minutes picking tumbleweeds out of the side of the driveway yesterday. Standing, not sitting and I got lightheaded. . I do have a rolly chair to sit on, so I will survive! We will see how the first couple of days without kids go.

Hope your day and week are fabulous!

Due to a mess up with dates, my FMLA doesn't "officially" begin until Thursday, leaving me to attend Tuesday/Wednesday...regardless.

Here, they told me 2-6 weeks and everything I've been told states that they will concede (mostly, but with consult) to the patient as to when they think they are ready to return.

These first 4 days are meetings, trainings, etc. so I am not the least bit worried about something happening. I'll be sitting all day, ugh. (My classroom was set up presurgery)

Then, Monday the 8th is first day back w/kids and my principal has arranged for me to have a helper in there the first 2 days "just in case". (Best P in the world).

I am not officially cleared of my FMLA until I hear back from my surgeon. I e-mailed him this a.m. So, am I on a bit of wishful thinking...yes, lol.

My hip is great! No pain. No pain meds. I still walk a little "off", but I think that is due to my babying the leg for 4 years due to the pain presurgery. I have to force myself to walk normal, now.

Trust me, I've been doing normal things all week, with the exception of kneeling, squats, etc. Haven't used a walker since day 3 or 4.

I'll be very surprised if the surgeon doesn't ok the cancellation of my FMLA. If he does, he does, I guess.

I'll keep you posted!

Best of luck on your return! You had it much worse than I!!!

Hope it goes well! I go back on Friday. I just overheard a cashier at Trader Joe's lamenting that your district started earlier! I guess some parents actually don't want their kids to go back!

Haley~Aug. 2nd is the earliest we've gone back in quite a few years. Granted, it's been the 4th a few times, which is only 2 days but still.

I'm glad some parents cherish time w/their children!!

Normally we have open house in July, then PD days, and school begins first week of August. This year there is construction, so theyíre not starting until August 17. My school friends chat group is full of chatter about classroom set up, trainings, etc. Iím trying not to mention that Iíve been in my pajamas all day. Two of us in the group arenít teaching anymore. We lay low on some conversations.

Wow! I still have 30 days of summer vacation left!

But we were in school through June 24, so I guess it all evens out.

Have a great school year!

I'm glad you are excited - have a great year!

I started back today (two weeks of teaching summer school, and then right into the new year). As I was getting out of the car in my head I was saying "f***, what did I do?!?!.
