Pregnant

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Well I'm a regular poster, but want to keep this private for a few more weeks. I just took a pregnancy test and it came back positive! DH and I haven't been trying too long so we were surprised. We're not going to tell anyone for a few more weeks, since by our calculations I'm only about 5 weeks along, if that. This will be our first child.

So, other than making a doctor appointment and throwing out the wine, what should be tops on my to-do list, if anything? Anything to expect in the immediate future? Any must-have books or websites to visit? I think I'm going to go out and buy a journal tomorrow to keep track of the pregnancy.

Thanks in advance!

Congratulations!! I bet you guys are so excited!!

If you haven't already started taking them, make sure you start your prenatal vitamins.

Also, go to www.ivillage.com and look at their expecting clubs. They have an expecting club for each month of the year and other ladies who are due the same month as you post questions and concerns on the message board. I just had my little boy 8 wks. ago and this was so helpful. Sometimes you just want to know if what you are experiencing is normal and it helps to have people there to listen to you who know what you're going through!

Best wishes!!

I needed a good nursing bra without an underwire. Even if you dont intend to nurse your breasts will be sore and the wire digs into the swollen milk ducts and can cause an infection (not to mention major discomfort). Prenatal vitamins and What to Expect Book - definitely. Loved that book. CONGRATS and ENJOY (dont forget to take mommy prego pictures for the scrap book along the way - I made a page with the ultra sounds and my picture together at each stage)

Congratulations! You're a mommy!!

Try to enjoy the experience. Although the nine months will seem slow, looking back it will seem like it flew by. Just because others can't "tell" you are pregnant, doesn't mean your body isn't adjusting. So rest as much as possible and drink lots of water. Start taking prenatal vitamins if you haven't already been taking them. I used the vitamins from Walgreen's vs. prescription.

I also suggest the book, What to Expect... The best advice my older sister gave me was not to read ahead beyond the developmental stage the baby was at. (At least not more than a month ahead.) That way you are not concerned about things you may or may not be experiencing.

Best wishes!

Congrats! I can't wait to find out who you are! I'll be able to congratulate you all over again, once we know!

It's been awhile since I've been pg, so I can't recall anything. I do like your idea of getting a journal. One thing I did do, each month I stood next to our wall and took a profile picture. This way, I could see how much I grew. I always tried wearing the same clothes, which meant I had to go shopping for a maternity shirt right away. It's fun to go back and look at photos!

AGain, congrats!

letters to baby!

Congratulations! When I found out I was pregnant, DS is 10 months old now, I began keeping a journal of letters to him. I didn't know the sex so I would write, Dear Baby P, and then write to him at least every week of the pregnancy. He came 8 weeks early, so then the letters turned into more personalized ones and I still write to him, less frequently. I want to give him these letters when he is older so he knows about the journey I went through... just an idea for you that I am glad I started...

Best of luck to you!

I had DH take a picture of me facing sideways at the end of each month. I was bold and actually showed my bare belly wearing a sports bra and sweatpants (real sexy huh!?). I love looking back and seeing the amazing transformation. I've seen people who have done the same thing wearing regular clothes and the effect is still the same.
Congratulations..I wish you the best!

there is a site called I-am-pregnant.com, and I would highly recommend it. I am mommy of natty-b I LOVED that site, the forums are done week by week, so when you find out how far along you are, you can chat and ask questions and share stories with women who are in exactly the same boat.Add me,lol

Congratulations, how very exciting. I cannot offer you any advice as my "baby" is 23 now and things certainly have changed since his arrival. Enjoy thepregnancy and while you are waiting to tell relativesand friends, you and DH could divise a clever way of sharing the good news with them.

Best advice for right now....take the prenatal vitamins, eat healthy, drink lots of fluids, and get lots of rest. You are building everything your baby needs even though no one else can see it. Your body is working as though you are running a marathon. Just remember that, and get lots and lots of rest during the first trimester!
Congrats!
