Technology question - scanning docs

I need to email a background check form - must be emailed, not faxed or hand-delivered. (See foster care post) It obviously has a lot of important info, including my ssn. The form has to be signed by hand and emailed back. I do have a scanner, but it has never connected properly to my computer. I downloaded a scanner app on my phone, but now I'm concerned about security.

Should I be concerned about security with scanning app? Should I just take a pic? Any other suggestions for how to get this form emailed? I don't really want to scan it at a public office type store, either.

Do you have an iPhone? If so you can scan using the notes app and it becomes a pdf which you can attach to an email.

When you are in notes start a new note, then there will be a camera option at the bottom. Click on the camera and choose scan.

I would like to add to the suggestions you already received. I used the Adobe Scan app on my iPhone to scan documents. It will upload the scanned document to the cloud that you can access it on your desktop through Adobe. You can create a free account on Adobe to save your files.
