An old song...
Old 09-14-2008, 08:46 PM

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Back in the 70s, we sang a song with the following lyrics....

A Chinese boy came knocking on my door, Um, hmm Um, hmm

Then it had things something like

He wanted a piece of cake

He made a mistake and kissed a snake

I can't remember all the verses but would love to have a copy of these old song lyrics.

If anyone out there remembers the song, please send me the lyrics!
Thanks!
GG

Jump rope songs?

Clip to ScrapBook #2

I seem to remember those lines as being from jump rope rhymes.
I googled them and this is what I found:

Cinderella dressed in yella
Went downstairs to kiss a fella
Made a mistake and kissed a snake
How many doctors did it take?
========================
Not last night but the night before
24 robbers came knocking at my door,
as I ran out, (run out of rope), they ran in, (jump back in)
[they] knocked me on the head with a rolling pin
I asked them what they wanted
and this is what they said
Chinese dancers do the splits, (jumper doing the commands after each)
Chinese dancers do the kicks,
Chinese dances turn around,
Chinese dancers touch the ground,
Chinese dancers get out of town, (run out of rope, end of turn)

We had the same song, but instead of Chinese dancer it was Spanish dancer. May be a regional thing.
