Do they exist? I've heard that the lower grades have these and haven't seen anything in fifth - it would certainly make this change easier!

planned out the 6 units. We taught one of the units: Play on Words. This year they expect us to teach all 6 units ugh. I teach in MA. Good luck.

We are going into the 2nd year with common core- we took our state units and tweaked them at the county level- we are teaching 4 units: Steal Away Home, Martin Luther King Jr. Biography, Tuck Everlasting, Navajo Code Talkers

Where can I find them? I'm sure that this should be obvious... but no one has mentioned them and I'm lost!

I am new to fifth grade ELA and haven't had any training on CCSS, but expected to start them this year. Can someone please explain what you are all referring to as the ELA units?? I never heard of these units. Are these units that every fifth grade ELA teacher must teach for CC? Thank you.

Thanks! I'll have to look at it further - but I only see one unit there. Am I missing something?

how many are posted just now . . . I was thinking 4 of 6 are up, but maybe not. The goal is to have them all up by December. The plan is to teach 4 modules during the year--there are "A" and "B" modules to choose from for modules 2 and 3.

If you look along the left hand side of that page you will see other modules to click on. Module 1 contains Unit 1 and so forth.

From my understanding - there are units that were/are being made in math and ela that many schools are adopting. This is not a "must do" as the core says what we need to teach but not how.

The problem that I'm finding is that the "what" is not explicitly taught in the materials that I have and I'd looooove something to look at/model my own teaching after. There are just soo many ideas out there. I'm hoping that these units give me the basis that I lack.

I do have a few pd days coming up that will concentrate on the math units and I'm hoping to get a lot from that... but nothing has happened in my building with ela and I need to get moving!
