Hi, This is my first time on this site and I love it. I've been doing themes for years and they usually revolve around a current movie...This year I wanted to do Hollywood or at the movies. Does anyone have any good ideas. I would love to see pictures too. Any information greatly appreciated
I was at a teacher store yesterday and was amazed at the cutouts that I saw...REAL LOOKING popcorn boxes with popcorn and big and small popcorn cutouts. They were cute! You could also use real popcon boxes and cottonballs to do the same. There is a huge Hollywood section at the party store. Check it out for some ideas!
I was thinking about doing this a few years ago and I found tons of ideas in the archive. Beth Newingham's website was also great!
I just got finished decorating my classroom in a Hollywood theme. I can only attach one picture at a time, but here are some pictures of my classroom. This is my first attachment so I hope it works. This is a picture of my classroom door.
What wonderful pictures. Thank you for sharing them! I bought a lot of the same items that you had around your room, so it was fun to see what someone else did with them. I'll post pictures of my room when I get if finished.
Ok-This is my last picture. I went picture crazy after just now learning how to do attachments. This is a storage area for math and reading games and other supplies the students and I use.
Kacie8 could you explain your oscar winning behavior? I'm trying to come up with something, but I'm stuck. Also, where did you get your little oscars at? Thanks.
I am also wondering where you got your Oscar people on your behavior board. I also like the colorful filmstrip bulletin boarder. Do you know what company put that out?
The oscar's I used on my conduct board I just printed from my computer. I found the oscar clip art and just enlarged it on Microsoft Word. I also put a text box at the bottom of the oscar to type their name on the oscars.
The way the conduct board works is that each student starts out on the red carpet construction paper every morning. If they break a rule, then they move their oscar to a different color and lose 5 points off conduct. If they break a rule again that day then they move it to the next color and they lose 5 points off conduct again and have a silent lunch, and so on. Our school and grade level have a certain policy and consequences I have to adhere to. I hope this makes sense. You can pm me if you need more info. OSCAR stands for Our Students Can Act Responsibly.
bostonsmom-The colorful filmstrip border is from Carson Dellosa.
If you have any questions feel free to pm me.
Thank you so much for sharing this!! I am doing the same theme and I have a lot of the same things you have, just not up yet. It is great to see how you used them!! I LOVE the oscar thing! I may do that! I also need to find that filmstrip border!! LOVE your room!!!
Yours looks larger than the one I found. I had to print the names and attach to oscar before I laminated them, so yours would have been much faster, wish I knew that then
I used OSCARS, an acronym for Our Stuents Care About Reading S'more. When they read 3 books and get three tickets for them, I make them a smore. They are reluctant readers, I had to bribe them ! I like your behavior idea and may try that instead this year. I was thinking about "Quiet on the set" or "Reely good behavior" and use mini clapboard keychains. I like your red carpet idea. I need to email you and see what your school wide discipline procedure is. Have you used the free vista print cards? They have a clapboard postcard and other items that go with the hollywood theme. I think I'm going to get some-hey they are free and we spend so much money out of our pockets .

I'm not sure who makes it, but there is a picture of the popcorn boxes in #17. Maybe Kacie8 knows who made them??? I looked all over the internet and couldn't find them. I'll see if I can find out.
The popcorn boxes are from Trend. It is called their discovery line. They have popcorn boxes, popcorn border, small popcorn kernels, notepads, wipe-off chart (the one pictured under my calendar), a small bulletin board set, incentive charts, and stickers. I have the popcorn border around the popcorn door. I bought the incentive charts but I am not sure what I am going to do with them.
I bought these items at a teacher supply store but here is a link to them online.
I really enjoyed looking at all of your pictures. I am doing a Hollywood/Movie theme in my classroom next year. I love all of your ideas. I would also love to incorporate some sort of concession stand type area in my classroom because last year I did the 50's and I have two tables still set up that was like a diner and there are so many cute signs that go with popcorn, treats, etc. Do you have any ideas for this or did you happen to do any type of "concessions" area? Thanks again for posting your pictures. Did you just buy red fabric and tie it back for your curtains? I also have a Smartboard in my classroom...I think I will borrow that idea too. Thanks so much.

Hi, Artbex and everyone-
I was just on Vista Print's site and didn't see any Hollywood type images. How did you find them? What keyword did you use?
Thanks so much!!
Debbie, you can access through this link. Free oversized postcards has a couple of designs and the standard postcard has the clapboard I personalized for my class. Some nice PT member posted that link. Can't remember who-but thanks! Have fun! artbex
I love your room- it looks amazing! When I did Hollywood, I bought some decorations from orientaltrading.com, including a huge blow- up Oscar, which I hung in the corner. I bought decorations from a party store- there was even a small fake Oscar that could be passed around in Community Circle, etc. I had a red carpet also, and I wanted to get a few strobe lights and set them so it felt like cameras flashing (just once), but I never got to it.
After seeing your Hollywood room, I'll have to do this theme again- it's a great theme and I love your ideas!
All I can say is that I anm sooooo jealous.
Great work. I'm moviung my classroom and haven't really thought about decorating.
Vacation next week that's when I start day dreaming and drawing plans.
I love your room and am also doing a Hollywood theme this year.# I notice that many people who do the theme have those red tickets on their bulletin board "Look Who's Popping In"(You have them on your door).# I have searched everywhere for them.# Where did you get those?
I purchased the tickets from a teacher supply store that is about one hour from where I live. I searched their website but couldn't find them on there. The tickets are from Carson Dellosa. I even searched the Carson Dellosa website, but didn't find them on their website.
I love Kacie's room too. I did a hollywood theme last year, but am getting new ideas from hers. I have a Carson Dellosa catalogue here's the info:
Tickets Cut-Outs CD-120010 $3.99 per pack 5"x51/4" 36 pieces pg45
The colorled filmstrip border(Ihave it and it goes with so much) is on
pg 43 Film- CD-3320 is $2.99 a pack
Carson Dellosa phone 1-800-321-0943
Hope this helps!

Litgirl -- You can buy the month headers at teacher's clubhouse. I'm not disputing she made them on Word, but the creativity came from Teacher's Clubhouse. They are 99 cents for all 12 months. Her calendar cutouts are different, but you get 3 different sets for 99 cents also. Those were things I asked to be custom made last summer and now they are for sale to everyone. Check out the rest of their Hollywood stuff also.
Thanks so much for the post. Ihe new additons are great, I'll have to get some. Can they be used on web pages too? I am in the learning stages regarding website designing. I would love to see pictures of your classroom with them displayed and I'm sure everyone else on this post would as well.
Thanks for the creative ideas artbex
Yea, I noticed they have some new things up now. A lot of people have done hollywood and asked for custom stuff so it wasn't all mine. About 6 of those were things I wanted. If you have an idea for something you want, you just tell them and they will make it for a reasonable price. They are very talented. Then it usually winds up on their site for everyone to purchase.
No, I don't think they can be used for websites. Most of it comes in a PDF format. There was a post recently about hollywood templates for websites. Someone suggested Thistle Girl. Go to http://www.thistlegirldesigns.com and type in "hollywood" in the search and you will find some templates and graphics for websites. And sorry, no pics of my room -- I like to remain anonymouse and my identity would be revealed to my coworkers who frequent this board if I posted my pics. Kacie8 did post some good pics though. Good Luck with your room. The hollywood theme is fun.

Reason: add link
Thanks for the info! I love how everyone on PT is so open about sharing info.
About your website- I have one through teacherweb. I did a sports theme last year and loved how my site came out. I just started to change it over to a hollywood theme last night. I also use Thistle Girl Designs for their art. I have deleted most of the information from last year, but you can check out what I have so far: http://www.teacherweb.com/MA/Acushne...rigues/ap1.stm
I still have to add a title to the marquis at the top!!
I love your website! It is so creative and colorful, and very organized~I am impressed! The Thistgirl designs are used in different ways making them unique to you. I have been working on other things at home and haven't gotten back to working on my trial one lately, you have inspired me to do so Thanks fo sharing. Your're srudents are lucky to have such a talented teacher.

Kacie8, would you be willing to share your Oscar with me - I spent over 2 hours playing with enlarging one from the internet and I am beyond frustrated - I would appreciate it! I sent you a PM.
I was just at Party America/Party City (in Michigan) and they have a lot of "Hollywood"/"movie" type theme items on sale...most of them only 50 cents!!!
A teacher in our school a few years ago did this theme and outside of her classroom she decorated with Black bulletin board paper and put the children "starring" in the movie (grade) and she also went to our local video store and was able to get old video posters to hang as well.
could you explain "the students will move popcorn pieces as they learn their multiplication facts"? I would like to use this idea but I am unsure how you are using it. Thanks
Your room is phenomenal!! Quick question regarding the OSCAR behavior chart. What keys words did you type in Word to pull up those Oscars? I cannot seem to find the image. Thanks a bunch!
Thank you for sharing the information about the free postcards. I love the standard size cards with the clapboard on them. I was wondering if you could tell me what you were thinking about using them for? An award? Decoration for the classroom? Welcome to students? I would appreciate you sharing your thoughts. This is my first time to do a Hollywood Theme and I am really excited about all the great ideas everyone is sharing. Thanks! : )
I am doing a hollywood theme. I am working on my behavior board and multiplication board. Can you send me a copy of your Oscar and how does your popcorn mult. board work.
Thanks
Sorry, but I haven't checked that thread in awhile and saw your question. I am seding them home before school starts. I had a welcome back message and my info, room, email, school phone, etc. on it. They mailed them yesterday, so I haven't received them yet. I just found a site where you can customize a clapboard for your web page, ppt or to print. It also has some halloween and really cool pirate templates you can personalize. Here it is: www.getgreatcoades.com
Enjoy! artbex
Thank you so much for letting me know how you are going to use the postcards, that is a great idea. Also, thanks for the suggestion of where to get templates. I hope you have a fabulous year! : )
I love your Hollywood ideas. I was wondering if you have a website. I was also wondering if you could tell me what behavior system you used with the Oscars. I couldn't tell from the picture.
I found some pics of my Hollywood room from last year. The OSCAR (our students care about reading smore) bb is in the background and the OTC oscar personalized banner. The kids got a smore when they read 10 books.
Most of the kinder classes are called "the bee class, monkey class, etc" I want to do the Movie type theme. What could I call my class as a whole? THe Movie Stars? I don't know if kids will "get" it!~
Hi Kacie,
I have decided to change my theme from bugs to Hollywood and I was trying to come up with a behavior plan/set up for the classroom. I love the Oscar cutouts! Where did you find them? I was also wondering how you set up your plan. I saw that you have pockets ajacent to the Oscars. Do the students move their oscar when they are givin a warning, infraction? I love your idea. Please tell me more!!!
I realize that I am about 4 years too late, but do you still have the Oscar template? If so, would you be willing to share it with me? It is fantastic!
I've been scouring these boards all summer Stlcardfan- excited to see all these awesome ideas, but bummed that most of these threads are old/ inactive. I did find this Oscar maker on PT recently, that you may be able to use... google search redkid oscar. It will let you personalize it however you want it, then right click and "save as". It will save as jpg.
Thank you thank you thank you.....this thread is soooo old i almost didnt read to the bottom...so glad I did because I found your redkid.net advice and it was definitely a good find....love the oscar idea...thanks sooo much...ive been lookn for an oscar copy...and everyone ive asked the thread was old.
I did hollywood theme and have been told that i need to post so that other teachers can get ideas...however, i do not know how to submit pictures. please help and i would love to show my pics.
