Christmas trees post w/a survey

I get artificial trees and want to put mine up this weekend. My tree looks a little sad (some sparse areas), so I'm thinking of getting a new one. Can't decide if I'm kind of attached to it, though!

Survey:
1. Artificial or real? If artificial, how many years have you had it?
2. Color lights or white lights?
3. Ornaments - sentimental (homemade, mis-match) or classic (like the balls)?
4. Tinsel or garland?
5. Any recommendations on where to buy a good artificial tree?

1. I have an artificial tree. Mine is 3 or 4 years old.

2. Mine has colored lights. I prefer white my husband likes color. The previous tree was white lights so he got his preference this time.

3. Miss match- some with photos, some homemade, many bought.

4. We have cranberry colored wood beaded string for garland.

5. Balsam Hill trees are lovely! They last a long time from what I understand. But they are expensive. I have never bought one.

My tree is gaudy as can be! I use all vibrant, Suessian colors and shapes for ornaments and garlands. Lord love a duck, I have a ton of garlands! One is disco balls!

We have a very normal, typical 7 foot artificial, pre-lit tree with white lights. What I REALLY want is a white tree! But I can't justify buying a new one when this one is just fine. But the second this one is kaput, I'm buying a white one.

2. White lights only!
3. All white and red only...
4. Nope. A beautiful red ribbon hanging from the top.
5. A local tree farm...

Artificial...bought it last year. For the 64 Christmases prior to that, I had a real tree. But I can't really manage one by myself.

2. Color lights or white lights?
White

3. Ornaments - sentimental (homemade, mis-match) or classic (like the balls)?
All handmade ornaments. Definitely sentimental! Mostly cat-proof, too.

4. Tinsel or garland?
No and no. (Did I mention cats?)

5. Any recommendations on where to buy a good artificial tree?
I got mine at Kmart...not sure that it is "good" though.

3. Mostly homemade ornaments.
4. Neither.

I bought a balsam hill tree online last summer when they were on sale. Havenít taken it out of the box yet. I hope itís pretty.

I love white lights

I have 1 tree with old, sentimental homemade ornaments and one with new, matching stuff.

No tinsel, but some garland and ribbons.

If youíre ready to retire an old tree, check out the balsam hill trees this summer. They are expensive, but the ones Iíve seen look real.

1. Artificial or real? If artificial, how many years have you had it?

Artificial. Weíve had it about 18 years.

2. Color lights or white lights?

Colored

3. Ornaments - sentimental (homemade, mis-match) or classic (like the balls)?

Homemade and sentimental. We get an ornament from every trip we take.

4. Tinsel or garland?
Garland

5. Any recommendations on where to buy a good artificial tree?

We just went looking for a new tree, one that was pre-lit and 7 1/2 feet tall. The prices for nice looking trees with LED lights ranged from $600- $895. I canít justify spending that much so weíre using the old tree again. Maybe Iíll look for a sale after. Christmas.

1. Artificial. I had my first one for 7 or 8 years. Got a last one when Sears went out of business. 9 foot tree for $10!!
2. Prefer colored but my new one has white (not going to be picky for $10)
3. Sentimental for sure!
4. Nope
5. I got my first one at Kmart. I hate Kmart but it was affordable and did it's job well.

1. Our main tree is real. I do have an ancient artificial tree (it was my grandmother's before she downsized) that I sometimes put up with my Disney ornaments. It's not very sturdy so it hasn't gone out the past few years. I've debated replacing it but can't justify the cost right now.

2. White lights

3. Ornaments are a sentimental mismatch. When I do the 2nd tree it's all Disney but a variety of sources and collections.

4. The only Garland I do is strung popcorn

5. No idea - I'd suggest Michaels, Costco or a local hardware store

Artificial tree. Pink. Got it last year.

Colored lights

No ornaments, just lights. I collected special ornaments each year for my kids and sent them along when they moved out.

No tinsel or garland

Treetopia.com

They have a great sale going on now

1. Real and I cut it myself. I may be getting to an age where I should consider an artificial tree, though.

2. White lights.

3. I guess it's a "theme" tree: birds, apples, music. Instead of a star or angel topper, I have a snowy owl that goes on top.

4. Neither. I have a string of clear, red beads. They're plastic, but they look like glass on the tree.

5. Nope, but I'm interested in the recommendations you get. I'll probably cut a real tree this year but I may shop the after-Christmas sales for an artificial tree.

1. We have always had real trees, but because of frisky cats havenít put a tree up in a few years. We bought a 7 foot artificial tree this year to put in the corner of the dining room. If anyone tries to climb it and it tips it wonít hurt anything.

2. DH likes colored and it doesnít really matter to me. This year we are going to put ted and white lights on our tree. We are going with a candy cane theme.

3. I have lots of beautiful Old World Christmas ornaments that hold significance to me along with some balls, and other various ornamentsó so mismatched . This year I am just putting on candy canes (again, if it tips over nothing really gets broken)

4. No to both of those

5. Ours was pretty inexpensive from Menards. We are hoping our cats eventually settle down and we may be able to resume having a real tree or a nicer artificial one in the future.

I always get a real tree. A few years ago I switched to colored lights after having white lights for years. I am very sentimental about my ornaments. I have a mix of family ornaments and ornaments from my travels.
