I lowered my A1c.

The last time I had a checkup with my regular doctor (itís been a while) my a1c was 5.7. Not horrible, but right on the lower edge of being pre diabetic. Iíve been on WW since July 4 and have been doing aerobics and treadclimber and Fitbit challenges to get more exercise. I checked my a1c this morning with a home test kit, and it was 5.4. Thatís in the normal range. Iím so excited that all that work has made a difference.

Yay!!! Type2 Diabetes is becoming an epidemic and you're living proof that lifestyle changes can help avoid it. I'm so happy for you and you should be very proud of yourself! It takes a great deal of self control and determination, but it's worth it. Congratulations.

That is fabulous! Have you ever read the China Study? Get it from library. Mostly about how a plant based diet can help with many health issues including diabetes. Even just cutting out red meat would be a good start!

It's not really too hard.

I eat broiled or grilled chicken or fish, lots of salads and raw vegetables, and one or two servings of fruit every day. I only eat 1% or non-fat milk, cottage cheese, yogurt and cheese (very little cheese), and I rarely eat sugar. I try to eat only things from the perimeter of the grocery store. Every other week or so, I order the WW meals from Blue Apron. That gives me some variety.
I bought the Body Grove aerobics dvd I found on facebook. It's pretty simple. It wouldn't be a workout for a younger fitter person, but it helps me. It's just some basic dance moves. I also participate in fitbit challenges with coworkers at school. I took third in our district last week out of 32 teachers who participated. I'm proud of that.

Way to go!!!
I need your determination as well. My A1c is right at 7.0, and if it goes any higher I'll have to start taking meds. I need to get off my butt and cut waay back on carbs and sugar. Thanks for sharing what you've been doing. I saw Body Gove on Facebook as well, when I remember, I do a few of her videos from YouTube, they are fun.

Congratulations!!!
