Hallmark Christmas movies....

So many questions....

I’ve gone down the rabbit hole. Very easy entertainment while I’m crafting.

So, I’ve watched at least a dozen, and now I have questions.

1. Do the actors and actresses always pair up the same or do they all just reorganize for each movie?

2. Are there favorite main actors, male and female?

3. Is the set the same for every movie? I swear when I see shots of “the town”, all the stores are the same. (this could be the Modge Podge fumes talking here.)

4. Does Hallmark many other movies besides Christmas? I think I saw some mystery ones....

5. Am I crazy for liking them?????

Some times actors stay together for a few sequels. But for the most part they change partners in the parts they play.

Candace Cameron Bure is a favorite I think.

I have seen the same house in a couple of movies. I think most are filmed on a set to cut expenses. But a few have been filmed on location. I know they did one film in Rome recently but it is not a holiday film.

They do romance, mystery and drama.

I don't think so. I love them. Always have. But some of the older dramas were better written I think. There was a little more meat to the story than fairy tale like ones of today. I like them because I am guaranteed a happy ending.

Well, I notice they always have an outdoor Christmas tree lighting ceremony which the lead actress attends while wearing a gorgeous tailored red or white wool or cashmere coat, usually carrying a hot beverage. I watch just to see all the beautiful outdoor clothing. Around here in the great Pacific N.W., I never wear a winter coat without a hood.

There was a thread earlier about the similarities of the movies.
http://www.proteacher.net/discussion...allmark+movies

One trend I noticed this year is the addition of more POC as friends and co-workers and even one movie as the stars. Everyone is color blind, but I don't think I have seen an inter racial relationship.

All characters are cis gendered and heterosexual.

They are fantasy. Suspend reality when you watch. Happily ever after fairy tales for adults.

I started watching these about 5 years ago. They do seem to have favorite actors and actresses. Lacy Chabert (Mean Girls), Candace Cameron Bure and Danica McKellar have been a fixture for several years. The last two Christmas seasons they've used Jesse Metcalf and Chad Michael Murray in addition to their other favorite actors.

They do make other movies. In January, they focus on winter and in February they have romance movies. My husband gives me a hard time since I'll start watching them at 5:00 in the morning when I wake up on weekends.

1. I've seen them swap out different ones.

2. My favorite actress is Meredith Hagner - she reminds me of Meg Ryan and Julianne Hough with her energy and silliness. She's in the one called 12 Days of Christmas (which is really cute). No favorite actor, but I do like Andrew Walker and Paul Greene.

3. The sets are definitely similar, but I know one was filmed here in MS (close to me!) so they do go out sometimes.

4. Yes, their mystery ones are all year. I've seen a few at other times of the year, but not like Christmas!

5. Nope, not crazy! That's a great way to decompress. DH will even watch them with me.

My DD and DH tease me for liking to watch them. When I want to watch without the teasing, I head to my in-laws and watch them with my FIL! He love them, too, especially if there is a dog.

They are great for crafting, grading papers, needing a mind break. If you want a good POC one, not sure if it's Hallmark, but it's on Netflix- The Holiday Calendar.
'This is the link to their schedule for the 24 NEW movies this year.
