I know many of you have used Donors Choose, I am a late bloomer and never have. My district offers classes on it, but none fit my schedule. Do any of you have some great tips for me on how to get started? Tips on the ins and outs of making requests?

Thanks all!

Just sign in and walk through the steps- it's pretty self explanatory. I have found through the years that people don't donate based so much on what you write. They tend to just pull up schools in their area, low income schools, etc. and look at the requested supplies. Don't stress too much about it :P

Also, check your district's policy on ownership rights. If you ever leave the school, your principal may require you to leave the materials.

It is a fairly easy process. Do take a look at other projects and see how you can make your project stand out. Speak from the heart about your needs and hopefully it will be funded.
I had a couple of projects funded. And two projects were funded by a local real estate company that bought what I needed and sent it directly to the school!

As others have said, it's pretty easy once you start. I've had numerous projects funded and most have been random people in the community, or businesses that decide to fund a bunch of projects at once. It's always worth having a project up because you never know! I would just say start small. You're chances of funding are better if you are asking for $300 or less.

Very easy to do. Just follow the steps on the website. I posted two projects last year, and both of them were fully funded without me doing anything but posting them. I didn't send any project links to anyone else that I knew.

Question

Not to hijack, but I have a Donor's Choose question.

I can't do Donor's Choose because I work in a Catholic School. However, I'm just curious. I see projects expire and they are only funded if the funds are raised by the expiration. Does Donor Choose set the expiration date? Also, what happens if you don't earn all of the money? Do the people who pledge not have to pay? Or do they still?
