I admit it - I am a pencil snob. I use high quality mechanical pencils, but if I use a wood pencil, it HAS to be Dixon-Ticonderoga. Although retired, I (not so fondly) remember the frustration on kids and my part in sharpening and using low quality, usually made in China, cheap pencils. I saw this on Facebook today and thought it worth sharing.

My kids know only yellow painted school pencils go in my sharpeners. All other pencils go straight home!

I agree with Ticonderoga being the best pencil. I do not buy any decorative pencils to give out and they will not go in my pencil sharpener!

Amazon has a 96 pack of the Ticonderoga ones for 10.00! At about ten cents a pencil, I donít think you can beat that price! I ordered some to send in with my kids for their teachers.

I saw this on FB too. I admit, I donít see the appeal of Ticonderoga.

I love the Ticonderoga because they sharpen so easily, therefore, they last longer.

I'm a Ticonderoga fan also!

If you have experienced the frustration of hearing that constant grinding of the electric pencil sharpener sharpening all those broken, other brand/ cheap pencils in class, you really get it!

I love USA Gold pencils. They sharpen well and last forever. Target pencils are the worst.

Love that! I also love Ticonderoga pencils. There are some other types I've loved as well, but I can't think of what they might be. Those plastic pencils are the worst. Colored pencils are even more horrible for the likelihood of having internally broken lead/color/graphite/whatever it's called on a colored pencil!

I'm fine with any of the yellow ones. Years ago I really liked the Mejer ones because the erasers were top notch! Really, I just don't like the cheap plastic, "fun" ones. They jam up the electric sharpener.

I like black Ticonderoga pencils but the absolutely best pencil IMO is a Paper Mate Mirado Black Warrior.

I pack shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child & that same photo was on a board I follow.
I usually buy Ticonderoga when they are on sale. Walmart had them on sale last year so I purchased some. I also like the USA pencils. Last week I found a box of 60 at Walmart for $3.50. Can't beat that price.
