Going to miss her!

I had my 6 year old granddaughter stay with me for 6 weeks. My daughter picked her up today and whisked her away in her abrupt I have too much to do manner.

She was my sidekick, my helper in taking care of my dad, her great grandfather, my heart and joy.

She was also very busy and needed constant supervision and attention. As much as I love the peace and quiet I miss her.

I watch her every summer. She will be very different at age 7.

Aw, Grandma....I know the feeling. But you were a sweetheart to take care of your DGD for 6 weeks! That was a big responsibility. But what wonderful memories you made together. I hope you aren't too sad. How far away are they? Do you facetime or write texts?

You seem like a very loving grandma and I bet she will treasure these memories youíve made with her as she grows up!

Speaking as a daughter who also has a great mom who willingly takes my kids whenever I need, Iím sure she appreciates you keeping her for so long! I hope she tells you often how thankful she is.

How well I know that feeling you are having right now.

Our youngest grandson (8 years) just spent 3 weeks with us. His parents, our DD, were here too.

He went fishing, swimming, horseback riding, and learned to drive his new ATV.

Every single time I look around the house, I see reminders of him from his fav snacks in the pantry to his once-a-day Dr. Pepper in the fridge.

His momma is my "person", so I miss her, too.

However, there is something about a grandchild......

I enjoy my grandchild so much and understand your happiness. I don't think some adult children understand the sacrifice grandparents make until the grandparents are gone. I am happy that you had such great time with her.

I had my 8 year old nephew for a week, and even after that short time I had to hide in the bathroom and sniffle a bit when his dad, my baby brother, picked him up. Exhausting, but fabulous times. Boy, did I sleep soundly when he was here!

My grandgirl

I always get my grandgirl twice during the summer (usually a week and a half each time). She is 9, and we have the best time...we always have! We do nightly fashion shows, tea parties, play school, go swimming, the movies, etc. etc. She is starting to love history, so we went to some really cool places this summer! I miss her terribly when she goes back home. She is three hours away so I don't get to see her all the time, but I go there at least one weekend every month. I know it's hard!!! She will still love being with you when she is 7 though!!!

We had to stay home a lot but it is a great place and we did laugh a lot.

She comes back after 2 nights away then we go camping for 4 nights, family camp trip.

I am grateful. But yes, all the reminders of her are everywhere. I did have a little cry today

She lives just 80 miles away. I see her throughout the year...she likes to facetime. .its just the living together ended today.

I miss her voice, her active mind, he giggling, her stories. It was a great time!

Thanks for the support my friends
