What would be your ideal "uniform"?

There was a post on a teacher page on facebook about someone wearing the same dress 100 days in a row. Some of the comments got me thinking about how simple it would be to not have to think about what to wear and rotating outfits.

What would be your ideal uniform if teachers had one?

I would love scrubs. Some appear to be comfy, you can still find some cute ones to change things up, or not.

I would also love the clothing of a PE teacher. You can find cute, yet super comfy workout clothes that are entirely appropriate for your position. (But I would make a terrible PE teacher )

I love clothes and putting together outfits. A uniform would be my worst nightmare- especially a polo and khakis!

When I was teaching I idolized the PE teacherís outfits. Now that Iím retired I can rock that look every day!

However, I taught in a Catholic school and I cannot stand plaid, navy blue pants combined with light blue button down shirts!

I spent 4 years in a daycare with this uniform. It took me years after leaving to face putting on khakis again and I still wonít wear a polo!

If I had to choose a uniform it would be jeans, shirt and blazer.

Uniform

When I was a manager in a local company of multiple child development centers, the owner had a bright idea at one point that we should institute a uniform policy because some of the workers were wearing trashy clothes. At first it seemed like a great idea and I was happy to order some Lands End polos (in the designated colors) and khakis to go with them. A couple weeks in, I was tired of looking like the education people at the zoo, and the uniform policy didnít even accomplish its purpose. Youíd be amazed at how trashy some people can make a polo and khakis look. This was in the era of fitted polos with a bazillion buttons all the way down to nowhere, and low rise khakis. Iím sorry, but if I can see your thong, youíve missed the boat on professional attire.
So, no uniforms for me. That experience ruined it.

Okay, I would hate the polos and khakis. I wouldn't even want jeans (I don't find them comfortable.) I'm going for comfort and lack of effort!

Iím good with just jeans and a nice blouse.

Really, if weíre talking comfort, maybe some yoga pants and a long flowy too. Of course that would never be a ďuniformĒ but it is my ideal outfit!

I wore a uniform in school as a student myself from gr 1 - 6, so not really wanting that again. I love clothes too much and life's too short for that!

I would love black pants and whatever color shirt you want. I have a friend who does this. She takes a picture of all of her black pants on hangers to show the kids in her back to school power point. She's like this is what I wear every day, but I want you to know that they are clean.

I'd be okay wearing a knee-length swing or sheath dress every day. I'd pair with sandals in warm weather and boots & cardigan in cool weather.

Come to think of it, that's what I wore about 90% of the time for a few years. I ventured out to dress pants and short-sleeved/sleeveless blouses for the past couple of years. I restocked my dress selection this summer.

My DH wears black or navy slacks and golf-type polo shirts every day. He has the same shirts in every color.

Not really a uniform but I have been looking into capsule wardrobes. Anything that would make me look put together, professional and effortless.

When I think about a uniform these things come to mind...

1. It would be easy knowing what you were going to wear.

2. I would love it if the "uniform" was jeans and a nice top.

3. I love clothes too much so I think it might get old....too quickly!

IDK...I'm torn...

I am like the pp's co-worker. I go long stretches where I wear black pants and a dressy, solid color t-shirt every day. So I kinda wear a uniform already.

I did buy some new gray pants this summer!

However, I had to wear scrubs in a non-teaching job. This was a clinic setting where the nature of the job had supervisors interacting with staff and clients quite a but. The supervisors did not wear scrubs and often wore skirts and heels.

This really exacerbated the hierarchy and respect issues there. I did not feel professional in scrubs and as far as I know it was never an issue with the other line workers looking unprofessional. A supervisor just thought the scrubs looked cool.

In summertime, I wear a "uniform."
5 colorful tee shirts and 5 tee skirts mix & match.
2 pairs of sneakers.

NOT wearing uniform to school. Sometimes getting dress up is my only motivation for getting up.

Paring down my clothes considerably.
Found that I was wearing same outfits all the time.
Even when I'd put on a different dress, I'd quickly change back into trusty standby.
Got rid of anything not worn last year, even if it was a gift or cost money.
Now have wardrobe filled with everything I love.
About 40 pieces TOTAL. for fall/winter/spring
Not buying anything new unless something gets worn.
Have definitive style now.
So, when shopping, I know exactly what I want.

Love this Blog: https://www.puttingmetogether.com/
She shows you how to wear same pieces in many different, exciting ways.

We have Casual for a Cause every Friday. So that's my "uniform" day. Always a school shirt/sweatshirt and jeans. Not sure if I'd want that daily...

My summer uniform consists of me picking up the same pair of shorts and the same t-shirt) that I have been wearing for weeks straight ) off of the bedroom floor.

I would love to wear scrubs- they seem so comfy! Beyond that (which obviously isn't happening), I have no interest in a uniform. The majority of jobs which require a uniform are not salaried professionals (retail, fast food, etc.) so I think it would degrade the profession. It would also be difficult to find something that's flattering and comfortable for everyone. I'm certainly no fashionista, but I like picking out clothes and looking nice every day. I'd get depressed having to wear some ugly polo and khakis every day...especially if it wasn't flattering!

that we had the option of wearing jeans every day. We do a casual day for a cause as well, but it's the only day.

I don't think I'd enjoy a uniform.

I have a capsule work wardrobe that includes a lot of neutrals, navy (tops only), and staff/school spirit tops. If the uniform was similar to my capsule I'd be ok with it. I would not like to wear polos and khakis, nor wear dresses and skirts daily.

I'm in summer mode so as unprofessional as it would be, I would like to continue wearing my shorts and Simply Southern t-shirts. I will quickly change my mind when the season changes in the Midwest.

I worked with an SLP who always wore khaki pants and a colored polo shirt every day. When we hung out outside of work, she looked really goth or heavy metal-like in her attire. She said once that she likes having her own personal uniform of khakis and colored polos. Makes it easy to just grab and go in the morning.

I think jeans and t-shirts/sweatshirts would be my ideal wear for daily stuff. or maybe leggings and long shirts/sweaters. Comfy

I kind of wear a self imposed uniform. Black pants and a school tee. In fact, I pretty much wear black pants or skirt and a solid v-neck tee as my daily uniform. I don't like clothes, I just like simple!

I would not want a uniform where what I wore was dictated and the same as everyone else. I sort of do the capsule wardrobe thing, but I didn't know that's what it was called until a friend told me.

For school, dark jeans and boots every day. Then I have a few blazers and cardigans and tops to mix and match.

For summer, I have four skirts and ten tops to combine. Plus if it's cooler, I'll do the jeans and boots combo.
