I should've let it go....

Clip to ScrapBook #1

We were doing a GimKit today for review and four out of my five classes were great today. The last one though...three of the kids are genuinely driving me crazy. Lots of kids aren't doing their work but these three are particularly blatant. I went over and quietly called them on it, pointing out that they didn't use their names for the program and the random names left over had 0 questions answered.
I should have left it at that but they've done literally no work at all this week and very little all year. Usually if I talk to them, they're savvy enough to at least say they'll try better next time and I get a bit more effort next time. This time, ringleader boy (who has been significantly worse for everybody else) was basically like, "We don't want to do GimKit, we've told you we want to do Quizlet live."
Ummm...excuse me? I was like, (a) do you know how many things kids tell me to they want to do during any given day and how often I ignore them? I've probably nodded and smiled and forgotten you mentioned it as soon as you said because I'm your teacher and not a cruise director; and (b) do your work. Why should I listen to your requests when you've literally done no work for me all week?
As I said, I should've left it but kept poking it. He's not the sort of kid who will actually truly change his ways and I'm frustrated that I kept engaging with him.

I totally get it. Were all tired and frustrated and engaging even when we know better. And were all ready for break. Dont beat yourself up.

I'm generally really good at not engaging, but even I have my moments. Take a deep breath, give yourself a pass and go on. It's a tough time.
