Do you get to have any same students from year to year?

Last night I volunteered as a parent but several of "my" Sped students came up to me to say hi...(it was schedule pick up day/night) I am fortunate to have many of the same students year to year.

Do you?

I do, because I'll have kids for consecutive levels of French. Most of the time it's a good thing, because I already know the kids and what works and doesn't work with them. And they already know what to expect from me. And I usually have a pretty good rapport with my kids. But, of course, once in a while there is a kid I would just as soon not have to deal with for another whole year....

I teach English I and English II, so sometimes I get some students in II that I taught in I. This year I have 7 or 8 that I taught last year. I have one boy for the 5th time. I had him for Remedial English, English I twice, an elective class, and now for English II. I love the kid, so it works out.

I actually would have had about twenty of my kids from last year, but the ones that failed my class or gave me trouble I didn't want to take again, so I had guidance move them. (thankfully, we can do this because I could not bear to look at little Johnny do jack @#$% for the third year in a row.)

I don't mind having kids more than once if they passed my class the previous year and didn't give me trouble. With so many new faces this year, I was actually glad to have a couple familiar ones.
