I'm out on workmans compensation, I just got a check to supplement my income from the company. Does anyone know how it works for taxes? I'm in New York if that helps!! TIA!!!

Dh received it when he was injured at work. It was his regular pay and it was taxed. He also received disability insurance that was not taxed. He contributed to the disability insurance with deductions in every check. That was not taxed and we were not happy at tax time.

Are you in New York, did you owe a lot of money during tax time? It makes me nervous to be out if I will owe a ton in April?

We live in NJ, but he worked in NY so we had to pay taxes in both states. If taxes are not being taken out, it will be about 40 percent of what you receive.
