Yes, you saw that right. After teaching all day, we had the usual Wed. afternoon meeting, which was suppose to end at 5:00. We were there until almost 6! P went over all the "standards" for evaluating teachers to make sure we knew that we have to do it all. Instead of giving positive strokes, it was all about how we have to change our methods and ask for help to make us grow into better teachers. I am so tired of being micromanaged.........

2 1/2 hours is ridiculous. Being negative at the beginning of the school year or at anytime is double ridiculous.

The first thing that

came to mind was that it was a case of an over paid bureacrat justifying his/her position by holding long meetings.

You are right: bad way to start the year off and it is a case of someone trying to justify their position. We heard all about how she worked so hard as a classroom teacher and how she wouldn't have hired us if we weren't willing to work harder ( most of us were hired by other principals thank goodness ). All she had to do was sprinkle a little nice words about what everybody was doing to make the school better, but instead it was a lecture about how she rules and when the observations start there will be teachers crying in her office.

Start documenting: meetings, times, frequency, tone, quotes, etc. It almost appears as if this person is going to make it their mission to belittle the staff and work you like dogs ( like that doesn't happen anyway). It may become a union issue- hostile work environment. Have notes ready!!!
