Cubes cheese
Sliced ham

Left in an insulated bag (that came from the fridge) - was out for 4 hours. Eat or toss?

I would probably eat it. Cheese keeps at room temp pretty well, and ham has nitrates which preserve it. If it feels cool still, you can be pretty certain itís safe.

That's me every single day, and I'm still alive.

Seriously though, I don't have access to a fridge for my lunch, and I just use an insulated bag. Sandwiches, yogurt, eggs, chicken, cold cuts, you name it. All in the bag from 7 am to noon.

I'd eat it. Isn't that the point of an insulated bag?

I wouldn't have an issue with eating it. Although I'd probably tell DH he could have it for a snack.

I would eat it. 4 hours is not long. Sometimes I don't want to take a lunch bag so I just alum foil wrap and put in baggie and my lunch is fine 5 hours later.

Eat it. That is the purpose of the insulated bag.

Back in the day, brown bag lunches sat in the coat closets for hours.

I have to tell you that is one of my biggest pet peeves. Teachers (I assume it happens other places, too) pack lunches in these insulated lunch bags, which are getting bigger and bigger each new season. Then they put them in the refrigerator. I can't squeeze my little leftover container in and when I do, I can't find it all lunch with all the lunch bags shoved in there.

If you bring an insulated bag, you don't need the refrigerator. That is what the insulation is for.

I would eat it. Without a doubt.
