Recommendations for locking valuables up?

I'm in a room with more built-in storage this year () so I am getting rid of a huge metal closet that takes up too much room. My only concern is that the closet had a lock on it, which was nice for my iPods and other tech. stuff. Do you use something smaller scale for locking items up? (Relatively cheap?). I was thinking of a 2 drawer filing cabinet, but they're kind of pricey. Thanks for any suggestions!

A locking filing cabinet is probably your best bet. If you wait until the July, you can normally get them on sale when the dorm/college collections come out. Don't know if you have one near you, but I purchased my cabinet at Kohl's last summer and it was much cheaper than the big box/office supply stores, plus they let you use coupons.

a decent used filing cabinet? I had a nice three-drawer one given to me. There were no keys so dh took the lock mechanism out and took it to a locksafe. For ten dollars I now have a locking file cabinet!

Could you put a chain bike lock on one of the cabinets you have in the room? It might not look the greatest, but if you can't find a used filing cabinet that might be a cheep alternative.

Try Craigslist. I bet you can get one for cheap.
