I got 4 really cute "lawn" chairs for $5 each at Ace Hardware.

I got a nice cloth / padded chair on a metal frame from Target today for $29.99.

They also had folding chairs in funky colors (lime, bright purple, blue, etc) for $9.99.

It does depend on what you're looking for exactly. IKEA is always a good bet.

I found some really cheap chairs at Joann's...about $10 each, I think. I waited 'til they were on clearance, towards the end of the summer. They are this fake brown wicker (it's actually plastic) and they are very rugged. I painted them with spray paint and they looked really nice in the library. I just have to re-coat them this year.

I was just at Lowes yesterday and they had director's chairs for $9.99. (I paid $30 elsewhere in the past!) I bought two and they also had a variety of the fabric seats for $4.99. I'm thrilled! They didn't have many so if that interests you, you might want to call ahead first.

This time of year, I always check garage sales. I've picked up 3 of what I would call disc chairs for under $5 a piece. If you want everything to match, WalMart probably has the best selection, although Target has some cute patterns. If you have a Kohls near you, they usually have some cute dorm furniture that goes on clearance in late July. Happy Hunting!

This is great! I will check Lowes and Ace. I just need something simple for kids to sit in. Pier One has the director chairs but they were 30. I would love two director chairs. Thank you!!

Library "Chairs"

I once saw someone use sturdy laundry baskets that the kids could "sit" in. Mostly their bottoms went in and their legs dangled out but that would be cheap to try. It was really cute.

Ohh how about just getting the cushions that tie onto kitchen chairs? Then your students could move them around (my kids love to read under tables)

last night at Kroger for $6.99 each. I know that many of our teachers buy similar chairs to take out to the playground each day. Not sure how sturdy they are, but that's a pretty good bang for your buck. They come in bright colors too.
