Great find at Goodwill
Old 06-12-2010, 10:37 PM

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Look at what I bought at Goodwill for $13! I went in to find shelves for my house, but came across this. It is a wooden mailbox that has 24 slots. I priced new ones and they are pretty expensive. My kids and my mom didn't quite understand the excitement when I brought it home from the store. All I need to do is take the old stickers off and put new ones on.

Lucky you! I've been looking at some to purchase, and the decent ones are about $100. So, if the Goodwill can't help me out too I'll probably stay with my little filing case.

That looks exactly like the one I have in my classroom... I paid a pretty penny for it, but it was worth it!

I have used it for 4 years and it still looks as good as new! Enjoy your GREAT BUY!

I am so jealous of your find!! I need to start hunting for the very same thing. Returning papers to take home is my downfall ... I need that kind of system.

Great find. I was lucky enough to have a father that is really good with carpentry. He made mine for me.

I refused to pay full price for those in an office store so I had my parents save their coffee cans for me. I covered the outside with contact paper and stuck them together with velcro. I love them! I've been using them for three years now and they've held up great.

Finding that at Goodwill would have been much easier though!

Great find! I recently found a 25 slot very heavy and solid shoe/wine bottle holder at my Good Will for $3. It would make a great mail center but I have the kids put unfinished work in it so that I can see at a glance who needs to catch up. Good Will is an awesome place for teachers!!

Goodwill is a great place to shop for classroom items if you're willing to dig and give the item some TLC if necessary. How exciting!

We are going to the Goodwill store to look for shelving for my sons classroom. He teaches English and has many books to find a place for in his new room.
Maybe I will find a good deal for my classroom also.

I knew everyone here would understand my excitement . My dad didn't understand and my mom only got it a little when I showed her the same one on-line that cost about $100. It happened to be in a Goodwill that was near my parents house, I had been in there before and was not happy with the quality of the items. I just had a feeling to go in there that day and found this and it is in EXCELLENT shape, barely seems used except for the stickers. ETA: It is a dark oak color with a black cubbies and a black back.

I REFUSE to pay full price for decent furniture.

DH has something he keeps telling me that he is going to bring home from work that has 28 slots for construction plans. He said I might want to put a piece of panel on the back so things won't fall through. I couldn't tell if yours has a back or not. Might bew worth it, so to help stabilze it. I also went to our Savers this week and got two seat cushions in stripes (primary colors for $2 each). I need to go check out our Goodwill next.

I pop in our local Goodwill every week or two just to check out the children's books. I always seem to find something in great condition and they are always 59 cents here. With classrooms of 26 students, well-loved books get beat up quickly, so I always feel successful when I find some of their favorite authors/titles.

That's so exciting! I'm actually quite jealous!

My favourite find was a big sturdy wire rotating book rack that someone put out by the curb. It was funny...I was about 25 mins away by foot (I saw it while walking the dog) and i RAN home, jumped in my car and went to pick it up. The entire time I was thinking over and over again "Please don't let another teacher drive by, please don't let another teacher drive by".

I hit several thrift stores today but didn't find a treasure like you. I did find several books for my room (25/50 cents). I always pop in when I can because you never know what you will find. Congrats!

I had really been wanting one of these and did a search on craigslist just the other day. To my surprise, I found one listed for $5! Some kind of business at a big warehouse was closing down and selling all kinds of office supplies. I had to drive an hour to pick it up, but it was well worth it. Great deal!!
