A shocking phone call from my former district.

On Tuesday morning, I got a phone call from a high school in School District A. The secretary wanted to know if I am arriving very soon...

I was shocked by the phone call...I resigned from School District A several months ago.

I explained to the secretary that I no longer work for the district...She told me that, according to Aesop system, I picked up the job for a science teacher at her school. That is why she called me...

After that conversation, I called the sub coordinator for School District A. She confirmed that I was no longer in the Aesop system for her district...She could not explain what happened.

I checked my email. The Aesop system sent me an email...It stated that I was removed from the substitute job at this high school in School District A. What? Unbelievable...I never took the job...I should not be allowed to get that job...

What is going on? I still use Aesop system to get jobs for my other district. No, I do not see any job for School District A.

Did Aesop system screw up?

This is strange...

I get anxiety about that when I take time off, tell the sub system not to call me, and then get a call anyway from the district or some school's main office. I always worry they're calling me in for something I accepted and forgot about somehow (since I have a digital calendar and a hard copy backup, this is very unlikely to happen) or because of some error like the one you wrote about here. But usually it turns out they're just short on people and want me to come in.

At least you don't work there anymore anyway. What can they do? Blacklist you? lol
Hopefully it doesn't happen again in a district you actually work in though. Scary thought.

Yes it is entirely possible that Aesop screwed up. A couple of years ago there were several months when I was seeing jobs for a district hundreds of miles away from me.

A couple years ago I was looking at my upcoming jobs and all of a sudden they all deleted right before my eyes! I contacted the teachers an they asked me why I cancelled jobs. I said I didn't and personally went into the schools and got the jobs reassigned. It was tricky but between my sub advisors and the schools, I got them all back.

It was fixed after I accidentally picked up a job in the district and had to call them to explain that there was no way I was going to be able to complete that assignment. I had previously called them and was told to ignore their jobs (some solution).

To err is human but it takes a computer to really foul things up.
