I hate Bridges math

I am OVER this program. Pretty sure it was designed for classes of 15. I have 32. It's all visual and manipulatives. The noise level and lack of engagement is driving me insane. I am exhausted. The prep is crazy and the TM makes no sense...not enough examples to show me what I should expect from kids. Lots of "suggested" dialogue about what kids will say. Most of mine are mute or look at me like I have a third eye.

Come on June and retirement!

Are you doing the newest addition? Every time I read the suggested student responses I crack up! No student has said that- Ever! We play the games as a class I can't handle the work stations! And the individual assessments are enough to send anyone over the edge! I can't imagine having to do that for 32 kids! Yikes! Good Luck!

I felt the same way about Investigations Math. One of the biggest perks of retirement was NO MORE INVESTIGATIONS! Until that program came along math was my favorite subject. Too much prep, too little engagement, little correlation to the pacing guide, nonsensical assessments. What are they thinking?

Investigations haha! My teammate has to teach math using Investigations and her classroom always is always out of control. The "lower" kids cannot handle it. They are confused and just throw the materials around. Their homework the other night was "How many cavities have you had?"

Literally, that's all.

I can't believe how much it geared toward the lowest student....YET it is the worst because it is not what low students need. A real lose-lose for kids.

My second complaint about it is that the skill that are taught are now what was taught two years prior. The kids are really losing out. Terrible.
