For those of you that have made chairs out of the crates, how thick of a piece of plywood is necessary? Do you have the directions for creating the cushion? Thanks in advance!

I have not done it but I have seen pictures and directions (I think) on Pinterest.

Crate Seats

I used 1/2 inch plywood. I cut it to fit inside the crate on the rim. I used cushion foam and cotton fabric. Take the fabric (lay it upside down on the ground or a table) and place the cushion on top of it. Then place the wood on top. Use a staple gun and staple the fabric in the center of one side. Go to the opposite side and pull the fabric tightly and then staple in the center. Working out from the center staples continue to staple after pulling the fabric snugly. I hope this makes sense. Let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks so much! I especially was wondering how thick to go with the plywood.

If you haven't made them yet, take your crate in Lowe's with you and they will cut it to fit inside. Also I used a twin mattress topper for the foam. It was cheaper.

Use sheets

I used sheets from wal-mart. I used a twin set for $9.97 and it was enough to cover 6 crate seats and I still had enough left over to cover a bulletin board in my classroom!
